A GMAT high score definitely boosts your chances to get in your dream B-School. Whether you’re a graduate or not, you can take the GMAT. The registration fee is $275 and includes sending your scores to 5 B-schools of your choice. To register for the GMAT, head over to www.mba.com
You can take the GMAT as often as every 16 days, but no more than 5 times in a year. And remember, you can only take it a total of 8 times in your life. Your GMAT score will stay valid for 5 years from your test date.
When you’re taking a computer-adaptive test like the GMAT, the system is smart enough to gauge your ability based on your answers. So, if you’re nailing the questions, expect them to get tougher. And if you’re struggling, the questions will ease up a bit. The score is calculated considering the correct answers, their difficulty, and the number of questions you’ve answered.
Right after the test, you’ll get your maths, verbal, and IR scores. But for the full deal including the AWA section, you’ll need to wait around 20 days.
You can do that, but it’ll cost you $50 if it’s more than 60 days before the test, and $150 if it’s within 14 days of the test. If you need to cancel, you’ll get a $100 refund if it’s more than 60 days before, or $50 if it’s within 14 days. No refunds for cancelling within 24 hours though!
You can cancel your score either right after the exam or within 72 hours of the exam. If you cancel immediately, there’s no fee. But if you cancel within 72 hours, you’ll need to fork out $25. And if you change your mind, you can reinstate your score for $50.
GMAT percentile tells you where you stand compared to other test-takers in the past three years. If you score an 85 percentile, you’re doing better than 85% of them!
Even without the AWA score, you can apply to universities with your provisional scorecard.
They’ll consider your best score if you’ve taken the GMAT more than once. However, some programs outside India might not require a GMAT. To send your scores to colleges, they must be official scores sent by GMAC through www.mba.com.
